Having an ideal space for meditation is half the battle to beginning
You should have a space set aside in your house that is calm and as quiet as possible. Although we all have a vision in our head of how this space should look or feel, it is very personal to each of us. In an ideal world we could have a room set aside or a garden isolated and completely quiet, but in the real world it could be on top of our bed, on the coach or cross legged in the living room floor. The most important thing is comfort and uncluttered space. All you really need is as much quiet as you can get and a place to be still, calm, and quiet in the comfort of your own home. I suggest beginners start their practice in the home and as your discipline grows you can take it outdoors. The reasoning for this is the ability to control the level of noise until you have developed the concentration to dismiss it in an uncontrolled environment.
